Blunt not Aggressive
I’m blunt and there are some who erroneously assume I’m being aggressive. The other day I had a nurse get aggressive with me because my Doctor who got off a conference (video) call with me and then called my mother for more information, to remind my doctor that I’m her patient and not my mother. This nurse tried to put me in my place. That’s why I say that I’m blunt and not aggressive and if I was, how is an aggressive response helpful?
Where is my privacy? I apparently don’t have any and it’s offensive for me to remind my doctor that I should have any privacy. Give me a break. I wasn’t annoyed until this nurse really tried to say something by not saying anything of value. I wasn’t upset until I had this stupid interaction.
I think there’s value in taking a beat and making sure that a person is really saying what you think he/she is saying and then responding like a jerk and not just acting like a jerk automatically. The healthcare employee failed to do this. That is really bad and this one nurse made a whole bunch of people look really bad. How did this culture get so reactive? The healthcare system is lame and being put into a situation where I constantly have to deal with them is a real downer especially when something like this happens.
