Entitlement
After seeing the Montgomery riverboat brawl that was caused by entitlement I started to wonder about what entitlement is. The other day I realized that I was entitled when I was an able bodied person. I took being able to move around in public for granted. I didn’t understand the reality of life as a disabled person. I never would have guessed that I’d have to look at and assess the quality of a sidewalk.
I’ve paid my fair share of taxes and I can’t reliably get around. Where did my money go? What did I pay for because it certainly didn’t go to people like me? Social security is a joke. You can’t live on what the government gives you. You can’t experience the standard of living in America. I can’t work so I’m stuck with piss poor social security to support myself and there are rich companies and individuals who aren’t paying taxes. I think that over the years I’ve helped these jerks financially and they give nothing back; they continue to take.
Accessibility isn’t a priority because disabled individuals aren’t obnoxiously loud about it. Why? I have just as many rights and needs that an able bodied person does. There is absolutely no real and true difference between me and an able bodied person. So why are we treated differently?
