Trains

I don’t like attention and there is nothing but that when I try to use public transportation, I’m the public too! There’s a gap in between the train and the platform and if I were traveling I’d assume that I would have to let the right person know I was coming. I live in PA and all the Septa train stations aren’t handicap accessible. That’s seriously messed up. The only time I get to go places is when I get in a car. I can’t drive anymore and honestly I’d be scared to drive. Once I notified somebody, a ramp connecting the train with the platform would be put out. Now before my surgery I would go a lot by train between Philly and New York, which requires a switch between Septa and NJTransit. The switch is sometimes fast and you go up the stairs and inside to go back down the stairs to a different platform outside. How am I supposed to do that? I can’t physically get to where I’m going without causing a scene. Nope. It seems like too much hassle and attention.

  1. Hello, my name is Crystal. I am 47, white and disabled. I used to work as an EMT-B and a CBA. All the heavy lifting damaged my spine. I am not in a wheelchair yet but I’m also going in for my second major spinal surgery 16 Dec. It is a struggle to go anywhere anymore. Even walking with a cane and trying to get on public transportation is a challenge. I can’t lift or use hardly at all my right leg. When you can’t lift your leg and you have to get on these high bus’s or medical transport vans it is hard. They need to make these forms of transportation handicap accessible. Are you able to call the bus company? What have they said, or do they give you the run around? PM me under Crystal Auenson, my picture has open, praying hands with the world over the hands.
