Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I don’t know what happened to my mother, aunts and uncle but I think I figured it out. My grandmother had narcissistic tendencies and my mother has narcissistic personality disorder. Because of this disorder or the normalization of this type of behavior, she didn’t have any qualms about treating me the way that she did. The silent treatment was and is a popular choice of my family members. The silent treatment is a popular tool of the narcissist and every single major family member loves to do it. Nobody is born knowing what the silent treatment is, it has to be learned.

I try my hardest not to respond to my mother when she does something petty but I’m only human. Every person is capable of being angry and sometimes I just snap. I’m not unhealthy in my thinking, I’m just realistic. I joined a Facebook support group for people who survive abuse from narcissists and it’s crazy helpful. It’s easy to think that you’re going crazy. Narcissists gaslight you into thinking that what happened didn’t. No. I have a good memory even with the brain tumor. It’s definitely not what it used to be. I generally have a good grip on reality. The gaslighting only really started after my brain tumor. Convenient timing isn’t it?
