Fetterman vs. Dr. Oz
I live in Pennsylvania and I am really pissed that people are commenting on how Fetterman shouldn’t have won because he has mush for brains. That is so offensive and extremely ableist. Having an auditory problem or a form of aphasia doesn’t mean that all of his intelligence is gone. He’s not a different person. My goodness!
I already knew that able bodied people are largely ignorant of what it’s like to be different. Now the ignorance is malicious and in the public. I try to educate people but damn. Because I’m a black, disabled woman I’m extremely sensitive to discrimination. Not sensitive like I need a hug, sensitive like it takes very little to raise my hackles. This “race,” that didn’t depend on politicians policies, became about Fetterman’s stroke.
Why would Oz come here and expect to be embraced? One time I went to my very first Phillies game and there was a foul ball. A fan caught it and instead of keeping it, he or she threw it back on the field. People weren’t interested in it. The fan wanted the Phillies to play better. A few years ago the DNC was here and a woman leaving the stadium said something about not being able to leave on the internet. People went after her saying that she should have taken the subway if she wanted to leave fast. Recently Phillies fans were calling three members of the Astros cheaters while they were playing. My point is that Pennsylvania isn’t a warm state. I really don’t know why the GOP would bring Oz to Pennsylvania and expect anything else than what they got.
