Consent

It’s incredibly presumptuous to automatically push a wheelchair. I can move my wheelchair just fine thanks. Unfortunately, it happens a lot when you’re disabled. It’s kind of just like touching a pregnant woman’s stomach. I love the way that Ali Wong says how “you might as well finger her [sic] too.”

Why do people feel so comfortable and justified in touching others? You need permission if you’re going to touch. I think that I’m particularly sensitive to this because I used to have long curly hair and people were constantly touching it. I was only asked for my consent once. It was also grabbed by a stranger who was a black guy. It was naturally like that so it was fascinating to him. One of my guy friends was like wtf and he and this pack started to flex on my friend. You touched me. You’re 100% in the wrong.

I really don’t like it when people push me. I’m obviously disabled but I can still get around. I realize that people mean well but until I ask for help just leave me alone. I’m not sitting here waiting for you to push me. Don’t flatter yourself.
