Crazy Pills

It recently occurred to me that you don’t see many disabled people in wheelchairs around because they can’t safely use sidewalks. Think about it. It makes total sense. When I tried to approach a politician about accessibility, and sidewalks specifically via email, I was sent a link to a pamphlet that didn’t address accessibility at all. Am I taking crazy pills? A pamphlet as a response to an actual problem is symbolic and incredibly insulting. An entire group of people can’t get around and you send a pamphlet? What? That doesn’t make sense on any planet.

People in wheelchairs matter and can contribute a lot. Diversity isn’t just color, gender, socio-economic status, sexuality, etc.. It’s also people with disabilities. The way he or she sees the world is different then an able bodied person. I don’t even want to imagine what we’re missing out on because accessibility doesn’t even make the list of priorities. I would guess that what we’re missing out on is mind blowing. You should all contact your local politicians and make accessibility a priority issue. It’s 2022 and disabled folks in wheelchairs can’t get around.
