Unsolicited Advice
The GOP is banning books. The Nazis burned books. America isn’t burning books but we’re close. I thought knowledge is power. Is that not the case anymore? It’s so wrong and extremely worrying. I can’t believe that I live in an America where books are banned.
I think Yelp is the catalyst for online trolling. I used to work in a restaurant and it’s absurd that people can comment on how another person is doing his or her job. Imagine how ridiculous it would be if I showed up at your job and told you what I thought? If you work in the service industry you hate yelp. People could type/say anything they want to. It’s not a big leap from Yelp to online trolling. People can say outrageous things from the safety of his or her computer.
Now we have actual conspiracy theorists in government. Really? The media is also part of the problem. The news cycle just moves so fast and some of the strangest things get a lot of media attention like the Amber Heard v. Johnny Depp trial. I know that I don’t care but what am I supposed to do when every media outlet covers it? I’m forced to watch that or else I have nothing to consume. How does the Amber Heard v. Johnny Depp trial inform me? Besides the fact that they’re both crazy, it doesn’t help me in any way.
The movie Idiocracy reminds me of what we’re experiencing in this country. They water the plants with Gatorade and are seriously stumped as to why the plants won’t grow.
