Goals
For each therapy, you set goals that you’re working towards. The therapists ask you what goals you’d like to focus on and it’s tough to come up with new ones. I feel so much pressure to come up with new goals when the ones I’m currently working on aren’t complete. Shared goal setting is a great thing. I’m regularly re-assessed and I suck at anything on the spot. I’ve been this way for as long as I can remember.
Today is the first time a therapist is giving me days to think about potential goals. As of right now, I have no idea what I’m going to say. Walking is the main goal. It pertains to so much. Maybe foot placement? I just don’t know but it will be a thoughtful and considered answer for sure. It’s literally the first time (after years) that a therapist is giving me time to consider and come up with goals.
Sometimes goals are for the insurance company. If they see new goals, they’re more likely to approve extending the therapy. I do a lot of stuff that isn’t helpful to me for my insurance company. I don’t think the insurance company cares at all. Dealing with them (unfortunately) is a necessary evil.
