Dentist

At the dentist, the water that they use, is too intense for me. I use a (metal) straw for everything. The flow of liquid is targeted and I can swallow with ease. I even put one in beer or hot beverages. It’s just easier. I get that it’s weird but hey it works.

I’ve found that if I tell them that water is too intense for me before we start, my dentist is very accommodating. I usually hate the dentist. One time I had a dentist work on me. She was talking to her black assistant about how she was offended that this other black woman wouldn’t hang out with her and her child in the sun. Idiot. There’s a stigma against dark skin. It’s more than likely that her reason about not wanting to hang out with her and her child has nothing to do with her. How can you be so smart and so dumb? Besides that incident I had a dentist once chip my tooth. It was his first day and he should have said something but didn’t. He was the adult and I was the child. I wonder why he didn’t say anything.

My current dentist doesn’t use water unless it’s necessary. I have a hard time swallowing when my mouth is wide open. They make it clear that all I have to do is raise my hand and they’ll vacate my mouth so I can close it and swallow. I’m disabled and I still need the dentist.
