Taxes
It’s crazy that able bodied people have somehow agreed to ignore disabled people. I can’t believe that proper sidewalks in cities and towns isn’t a huge deal. An entire population of people are challenged while trying to get around.
Disabled people pay taxes, vote, get haircuts, etc.. Basically anything an able bodied person can do a disabled person can do too. I find it so weird that nobody high up cares. I don’t know why politicians don’t acknowledge the reality of this. I bet if they did, they’d have the loyalty of the disabled population. I matter. Disabled people matter. I can’t believe it’s necessary to say that in 2022.
I want to raise awareness of what it’s like to be disabled. It’s such a big deal. Why do disabled people, who are not on social security, pay taxes? The sidewalks are atrocious. Shouldn’t taxes pay for accessibility? I’ve only been disabled for over five years and I’m super tired of it. Maybe because I’ve lived as an able bodied person I’m more sensitive to how society treats the disabled. I can’t even imagine growing up like this, which many do.
