Physical Therapy
I’m currently in physical therapy. I’ve had many good therapists and two great ones. The ones that work me the hardest I love.
I’m currently and always working on walking. I’m trying my best and hardest to make whatever progress I can. I’ve found that knowing the reason I’m doing something is very helpful. There’s a disconnect between my limbs and the rest of my body. I’ve always had strong legs (my upper body strength is nonexistent) and because I know why I’m doing something I can try to focus on certain areas. The physical therapist I have now is really good at explaining things.
When I walk I put a lot of pressure or weight into my arms. I use a rollater (I don’t even know if I’m spelling it right) which is a walker with wheels. My shoulders go up all the time and it’s because I really want to control my movements. No matter how hard I try (subconsciously) to control my body, I just can’t. But it sure doesn’t stop me from trying. I’ve been working on strengthening my core to better balance myself and that’s been very beneficial.
I’ve received years of therapy so I know what works for me. I was so nervous to start but I absolutely love it.
