Trust

It’s very important that you trust your therapist. You are potentially doing something that could hurt you. I have balance issues so most of my exercises involve some element of balance. I will not try something new with a stranger. It’s not personal. I’m old enough to know that I need to know a person before I go off and try something.

It’s imperative that you develop a rapport with your therapist. I don’t think I would have made progress without it. At first, I had a really bad therapist. She was obviously young and spent most of her time talking with an aide about her plans. I didn’t trust her at all. I don’t even remember her name but she was the worst. Again, I’m physically disabled not mentally disabled. I have an appointment for physical therapy, I’m not here to listen to your plans. This is legitimately my time.

I’ve tried so many things and I’ve accomplished so much in therapy. It wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t trust my therapists.
