Masks

 I’m on the hunt for affordable masks with windows over the mouth. Speech is incredibly difficult for me so it’s very helpful when trying to understand me for people to look at my mouth. So far I’ve tried two kinds of masks and the plastic crushes my face. Maybe there’s a trick to them? The ones I’ve found run between $60 and $80. For a mask. I’m just not willing to spend that much. Who are they for? Congratulations you just figured out a way to make people not buy them.

I want to be safe so badly. This whole pandemic thing has turned me into a major germaphobe. I don’t think I was like this before but I really don’t want to get sick. I’m immuno-compromised and my 69 year old single mother is my caregiver. So there’s not much we can do to avoid getting sick. If she gets sick then I get sick and if I get sick then she does too.

It would make me so mad when people would run around without masks. I don’t care if you don’t want to wear a mask. I’m immuno-compromised and that’s why I care. I could get really sick. I was put in a position where I needed to trust strangers and trust doesn’t come easily for me. I regularly saw examples of people not interested in wearing masks. What’s the big deal? I just don’t and can’t understand. It’s not about personal or political views but a very real fear of getting sick.
