Inherited Personality Traits

 In the nursing home I was exposed to nurse’s aides. They are overwhelmingly black and brown women and they are oftentimes immigrants. So classic to have black people and immigrants do that type of work. Overt racism is bad but it’s also systemic (nobody would blame you for not seeing it.)

After Jewish people were persecuted by Nazi Germany there was this theory called trans generational transference of personality traits. It basically looked at all the Jewish stereotypes as learned behaviors that were picked up after the holocaust. What are the effects of slavery on the black experience? Somebody should really research it. I don’t think many people, if at all, are really looking at it. It’d be really interesting. Somebody should also look at its effects on white people too.

I can’t even imagine the damage done. It’s just ridiculous when Kanye West said slavery was a choice. Are you joking? Entire families were ripped apart. Children were literally taken away from their mothers. People were sold at auction. I really hate Kanye West. It’s ludicrous when people say that racism doesn’t exist when it’s in all the systems. How could it not be? I’m not a genius but racism was around when the system was being created. I can obviously see it when I look at the health care system.

I’m so thankful that people are paying attention to “The Karen Phenomenon.” White women being nosy is not new. It has been decided (deemed)  that it’s really messed up. Emitt Till was murdered because a white woman claimed some type of “injury.” Black Wall Street was burned down because of a white woman. I was followed by a white woman in a museum when I was a teenager. There’s a difference between not knowing and being ignorant.
